Exploring Art Description

Exploratory Art is a 12 week foundation course presenting a variety of projects including drawing, painting, and design that will enable the student to become familiar with vocabulary, materials, techniques, technology, history, and art appreciation. Students will explore a variety of materials in order to express ideas and concepts. Students will complete a series of projects reflecting the individual’s creative talents through new media and art exploration all based on the California Visual Arts Standards of Education

Course Goals: Students will:

  • Improve upon their entry level drawing and design skills
  • Apply the elements of art when designing projects
  • Explore new techniques in media such as graphite, color pencils, pen and ink, charcoal, paint and other various mediums
  • Participate in groups display of student artwork
  • Learn to evaluate their work

 

Arts and Crafts Description

Arts and Crafts is an art course for beginning students; students will be given high school level material. However, no previous art experience is necessary. Course work emphasizes improvement of drawing ability and the understanding of the elements and principles of art. Students will complete a series of projects reflecting the individual’s creative talents through new media and art exploration all based on the California Visual Arts Standards of Education.
